As of 2018, the MTF survey data shows that, 69.4% of households have grid access and 1.6% use off-grid solutions, while the remaining 29% of households do not have any access to electricity.  Using the MTF definition of access, 70.4% of STP households are in MTF Tier 1 or above for electricity access.  A comparison between urban and rural households shows that 76.7% of urban households and 60.5% of rural households are in MTF Tier 1 or above.

As of 2018, 53.5% of STP households use kerosene stoves; 31.8% use open fire/three-stone; 8.3% use improved cookstoves (ICS); 5.1% use a traditional stove; and the remaining 1.2% use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).  Using the MTF definition of modern cooking solutions, the majority of households are concentrated in MTF Tiers 0, 1, and 2 (27.5%, 25.8% and 34.9%, respectively).  Urban and rural households rely on different cooking technologies, with 65.1% urban households using kerosene stoves while 55.9% rural households using open-fire stoves.
